    Before the inoculation was created smallpox affected one out of every five people. A crude from of inoculation was created in 1721 regardless of the objections of many physicions and clergy because they believed it was tampering with the will of god. One of the prescriptions was dried toad which was a favotrite among the colonist.

    Writen by Benjamin Franklin, "Poor Richard's Almanack" enphised on virtues such as thrift, industry, morality, and common sense. It was well known in Europe and it was more widley read in America then anything bu the bible!
  • The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening
    In 1734 The Great Awakening was first initiated in Northampton by an intelectual pastor, Jonathan Edwards. He claimed that salvation could not be achieved through good works, and he aslo made public his belief or lack their of in the idea of predestination. This belieg started to spread throughout the colonies as more and more people followed in the foot-steps of Jonathan Edwards.

    George Whitefield
    Four years after The Great Awakening began George Whitefield introduced a new style of evangelical preaching. His skill came from his ability to act and exaggerate his words in live speeches to the public in order to portray his emotions. He was able to "make audiences weep merely by pronouncing the word Mesopotamia". He even brought Benjamin Franklin, an atheist and non-believer, to tears.

    An uprising in the Northern Bitish Colonies. During this time period colonist took up arms against governement officials who they believed to be currupt. It was caused due to the heavy taxation of the lower classes.
