    In 1607, 104 English men and boys made it to North America to start a settlement. On May 13 they chose Jamestown, Virginia for their settlement, which was named after their King, James I. The settlement became the first stable English settlement in North America.

New York was one of the original 13 colonies. Between 1892 and 1954, millions of immigrants arrived in New York Harbor. They passed through Ellis Island on their trip to becoming a U.S citizen.

    The Salem witch trial occurred from 1692-1693. The trial occurred in the colony of Massachusetts. More than 200 people during that time were accused of practicing witch craft. 20 of the people were executed because of this. The colony of Massachusetts admitted that the trials were a mistake and repaid the families of those executed.
