    African slaves shipped to work on Colombian plantations

    The Afircan Americans were being imported to Colombia to be slaves and to take the spot of Native Amercans when they die. Africans were forced to work in gold mines, on sugar cane plantations, cattle ranches, and large haciendas. They had to work until modern times.
  • Nov 11, 1536

    1536-1538: Spanish conquistador Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada

    ) leads an expedition into the Andes and obtains massive amounts of emeralds and gold
  • Colombian Declaration of Independence

    when Colombia was not Spain's anymore. And was able to do whatever they country wanted, since they were free from Spain. Colombia wasn't able to trade with other colonies or countries, such as the United Kingdom or the British North America.
  • The War of the Thousand Days

    A civil armed comflict between the Conservative Party, and the Liberal Party. After all the damnged was done the Liberal party lost.
  • The USA paid Colombia $25 million for the loss of Panama

    The Hay-Herrán Treaty was signed by Colombia for the US to get a strip of land of the Panama. After offering $10 million and an annuity of $250,000 the Colombian senate refused to ratify it.
