The U.N. is a peace keeping organization whose headquarters are in New York City. The U.N. was used in 1945 at the Yalta Conference. The U.N. is important to history because if it wasn't for the U.N. we might have been in another world war. The U.N. impacted politics because The U.N. handled many of the worlds issues and helped sort them out, and they still do that today.

    NATO is made up of the WWll Allies. NATO stood for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, members agreed to help one another if they were attacked(political and military alliance). NATO was founded in April 1949, their headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium. NATO is important to history because it stop communism from spreading to other countries. NATO impacted politics because it made sure that no other countries turn communist.

    This event is about Joe McCarthy. McCarthy is a senator from Wisconsin and in 1953 he accused 57 State Department employees of being Communist, he never had any evidence to prove his claim. Many people were fired and others were afraid to defend accused workers. people stopped believing McCarthy after he said that there were communists in the Army and was censured. This was important to history because many people lost their jobs. This impacted politics because it may have started the Red Scare.

This took place in Topeka, Kansas in 1954. This event was important to history because if it wasn't for this case, school still might be segregated. The Brown vs. Board of Education case impacted society because this was a step in the right direction against racism. School were no longer segregate and people could be more open-minded.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis involved John F. Kennedy, the leader of the United States, and Nikita Khrushchev, the leader of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union gave Cuna weapons and built missile bases. American U-2 spy plane took photos of the missile sites on Cuba. This event is important to history because this is the closest we've ever gotten to a nuclear war in history. This impacted politics because it created tension between the Soviet Union and The United States.
