Cold War
The Cold War was a state of tension between two countries without an actual fight. This even began in 1945 and ended the year of 1989. The Cold War took place in four countries in the world. Korea, The U.S., Cuba, and Vietnam were key places during the war. The Cold War was important because it was a clash in between Communism and Capitalism. Because of that reason, the Cold War made an on impact society. It also made many people more aware due to anything that could happen at any moment. -

Medicare/Medicade
Medicaid was created by Social Security Administration in the 60s. This gave the government money to help all people with a low income with medical bills. People included blind, deaf, aged, disabled and pregnant women. The largest source of funding for any medical services for low income citizens in the U.S is medicare. This had a major impact on beliefs. These vary from various states because someone qualifies for Medicare in one state. This doesn't mean all will qualify in another. -
Medicare/Medicaid
Medicare was started by President Lyndon Johnson. The U.S. government helped hay for hospital bills of citizens that are over the age of 65. Medicare can cover approximately half of health care charges. The remaining charges were either payed off with insurance or own money of enrollees. -
Gerald Ford
Gerald Ford was the 38th president of the U.S. He had been a republican Michigan Congressman for 25 years before becoming president. After becoming president in 1974, Gerald Ford started trade with countries. The countries were part of the Soviet Union. He was also a part of the investigation of UFK. This event had a large impact on politics because of Ford pardoning Richard Nixon, the 37th president of the U.S. -

Space Shuttle Challenger
Jan. 28, 1986, the challenger took off from Florida. The first passenger was a women with the name of Christa McAuliff, a teacher from New Hampshire. NASA had wanted to receive the first public interest in the space program. One of the shuttles before, in Florida, was delayed 4 times. Four astronauts were inside the ship at take off, and sadly as it flew away, it exploded. It had done so over the Atlantic Ocean with no survivors. NASA directors were fired due to the deaths from the explosion. -

Financial Crisis
The U.S. financial sector (Wall Street) was who was involved. This event resulted in the world economy to face a terrible crisis ever since the Great Depression. Banks began to trust no one to pay money back, which resulted in the bank stop making loans. Mortgage dealers that issued mortgages with borrowers came tot he point they couldn't pay. Not being able to pay made many to go into foreclosure. The Gov. tried to help comp. and Wall Street. Many people began to be depressed around the world.
