    The Baby Boom was the time where millions of babies where being born because the war ended and all of the husbands were coming home and having children. 29 million children were born in the '50s compared to the 9 million born in '30s. This event was important to history because all of the babies being born showed we were out of the depression. This event affected society because it gave better health care to children. It also gave better health care to pregnant women.
  • Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan

    Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan
    Truman Doctrine gave $400 million in military aid to Greece and Turkey to Stop communism from spreading. This event occurred in 1947. This affected the economy because of $400 million where given to other countries. The Marshall plan gave $12 billion in aid to rebuild east Europe. This was done by George Marshall in April 1948. This affected the economy because a lot of money was given to eastern Europe. This money was used to rebuild everywhere affected by World War 2.
  • Korean War

    The Korean war was a war between North and South Korea. North Korea wanted to be Communist and South Korea wanted to be a democracy. America helped South Korea and the Chinese helped North Korea. The War was important to history because if it wouldn't have happened, Korea would most likely be Communist as well. The Korean War impacted politics because it was Communism vs Democracy. The U.S. wanted to stop Communism from spreading further.

    The Vietnam War started on November 11, 1955. It was in Vietnam between North and South Vietnam. America was helping the South because the South wanted to be a democracy and the North wanted to be communist. At the end of the war, 58 million Americans were killed and over 1 million Vietnamese were killed. American ended up losing the war and all of Vietnam became Communist. This event affected politics because Commission was continuing to spread in Asia. The US was not successful in the war.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa parks was an African American who was riding a bus in Montgomery Alabama and refused to give up her bus seat to a white rider. She got kicked off the bus and started a boycott against the bus system. This event was important to history because it allowed people of all races to sit where ever they want on the bus. Rosa Parks affected society because her actions allowed people of all races to sit where ever they want on the bus. It eventually allowed people of all races to be treated equally.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was when the Soviet Union Sent 1,600 Nukular Weapons to Cuba. Cuba put these missiles facing America. The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred in October 1962. This event was important to history because it was the closest we ever got to full-scale nuclear war. This affected society because if Cuba would've launched the missiles millions would've died. There would've been multiple cities destroyed.

    Man Lands on the moon
    On July 20, 1969, Buzz Aldrin, Michale Collins, and Niel Amstrong were the first humans to land on the moon. Niel Amstrong was the first person to walk on the moon. The astronauts took samples of the moon while they were up there. This event was important to history because this was the first time humans have ever been to the moon and it was a huge accomplishment for mankind. This affected society because it showed we could do things that were thought to be impossible.

    Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States from 1976-1980. He was the governor of Georgia before becoming president. Jimmy Carter did not send any athletes to the Olympics because it was held in the Soviet Union. He was apart of the SALT ll and passed the social security act. Jimmy Carter was a millionaire peanut farmer and was the first president born in a hospital. He affected politics because he became president of the United States. He made new laws and changed a lot in the US.
  • Challenger Explosion

    The Challenger Space Shuttle was the first carrying a passenger, Christa McAuliffe who was a school teacher from New Hampshire. This event occurred on January 28th, 1986 at Cape Canaveral Florida. NASA wanted to gain public interest in the space program. At 59 seconds after liftoff, black smoke appeared coming out of the shuttle. At 74 seconds the space shuttle exploded and broke up over the Atlantic ocean. This affected the economy because it cost about $450 million to launch a space shuttle.

    George W. Bush was the 43rd president of America. George W. Bush was the governor of Texas before becoming president. He was president during the attacks of September 11th. He started War on Terror. He played baseball in high school and is now a part manager for the Texas Rangers. He affected politics because he became the new president of the United States. He made new laws and did many things for this country.

    We sent troops into Afganistan in 2001 and we sent troops into Iraq in 2003. We did this because there was a possibility of them having weapons of mass destruction and to protect our oil reserves. We have had troops in these places for over 15 years. This event was important to history because it was our response to them for 9/11 So far there have been 6952 American casualties. This event affects the economy because it costs a lot of money to be in war.
    The US has spent about $4-6 Trillion.

    Hurricane Katrina occurred on August 29, 2005. It mainly affected New Orleans. This hurricane was a category 4 hurricane and it was the costliest hurricane in US history. This was important to history because there were $81 billion in damage and 1,833 people died. Hurricane Harvey was on August 25, 2017. It was a category 4 hurricane. This was important to the US because it cost $75 billion and 15 people died. These events affected society because a lot of people died. They also destroyed cities
