  • Korean War

    Korean War
    The war begun. Over 75k soldiers of North Korea lined up on the boundary of the Soviet-backed Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the north and the pro-Western Republic of Korea to the south. By the next month the American's have joined the war on their turf. USA was very scared WWlll would appear. In July 1953, the Korean War came to an end. In all, some 5 million soldiers and civilians lost their lives during the war.
  • Vietnam War

    About 85% of the US Army was white. Almost 12.5% of the US Army was African American decanted. The average age was 21. The Americans were more educated then the rest of the Vietnamese. About 58,214 American soldiers died in Vietnam between 1956 and 1975. 2/3 US soldiers volunteered. 1/3 US soldiers were drafted. About 11, 000 were woman.

    On January 1, 1959, a young Cuban nationalist named Fidel Castro 1926 drove his Guerilla army into Havana and overthrew General Fulgencio Batista 1901-1973 the nation’s American-backed president.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    In 1961 the United States sent trained Cuban exiles to Cuba to try and overthrow Fidel Castro's government. The United States did not succeed. The invasion is considered part of the Cold War because the United States was trying to prevent communism from taking hold of the Americas
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Kennedy also secretly agreed to remove U.S. missiles from Turkey many people feared the world was on the brink of nuclear war explained his decision to enact a naval blockade around Cuba and made it clear the U.S.
  • Salt 1 & Salt 2

    In late 1972, negotiations began for Salt II and continued for seven years. Salt I, as it is commonly known, was the first of the Strategic Arms Limitation talks between the U.S.S.R. and the U.S. Brezhnev and President Jimmy Carter signed the Salt II treaty.
  • Soviet invasion of Afghanistan

    The soviet Afghanistan war was fought between Afghanistan rebels called the Mujahideen and Soviet supported Afghanistan government. The United States supported the Afghanistan rebels in order to try and overthrow the communist government and prevent the spread of communism
  • Creation of Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall remains one of the most powerful and enduring symbols of the Cold War. but it primarily served the objective of stemming mass defections from East to West.when the head of the East German Communist Party announced that citizens of the GDR could cross the border whenever they pleased.
  • Fall Of The Berlin Wall

    August 13, 1961the Eastern Germans permanently closed the border between the West and East Berlin. The Berlin Wall was a to keep each side from seeing another. it was made as a divider. On October 3, 1990 the East and Western Germans were officially reunited after nearly 30 years. Many Germans took down the wall with joy.
  • Fall of Communism

    The collapse of the Soviet Union started in the late 1980's and was complete when the country broke up into 15 independent states on December 25, 1991. This signaled the end the end of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States.
