  • The Yalta Conference

    The Yalta Conference
    The Yalta Conference was a meeting taking place from Feburary 4-11, 1945. The heads of the government of the United States, United Kingdom, and the Soviet union met to decide on what would happen and how to share Berlin. They splited Germany into four zones.
  • The Potsdam Conference

    The Potsdam Conference
    Followed by the Yalta Conference, the Potsdam Conference began from July 17-August 2, 1945. It was the last meeting of World War 2 and was held by the "Big Three" heads of state. They had various agreements on the German economy, punishments for war criminals, land boudries and reparations.
  • NATO formation

    NATO formation
    New political and military alliances were formed and led by the Cold War. The western nations for NATO, which stands for the North Alantic Treaty Organization.
  • The Start of the Korean War

    The Start of the Korean War
    75,000 soilders from North Korea invaded South Korea. Stalin supported North Korea who invaded using soviets weapons. By July, the Aericans had entered and it became an open conflict between bothe super powers on both sides.
  • The Ending of the Korean War

    The Ending of the Korean War
    The Korean War ended by an armistice between the United States, the People's Republic of China, North Korea, and South Korea. The armstice established a representatives commitee from countries to decide fate of thousands of prisoners of war on both sides.
  • The Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact
    The Warsaw Pact was formed by the Soviet Union and its allies. It was a treaty that was officialy called 'The Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Asssitance. It was disbanded in Feb. 25, 1991.
  • Suez Crisis

    Suez Crisis
    The Suez Crisis was an ivasion of Egypt by Isarael, followed by Britain and France. The crisis brought the Soviet Union into conflict damaging their relationships with the United States.
  • Bay Of Pigs

    Bay Of Pigs
    This was a failed mission led by Fidel Castro. The Americans didn't trust Castro and because this was a failed mission, it strengthened the ties between the USSR and Cub leading to the Cuban missle crisis.
  • Fall of Berlin Wall

    Fall of Berlin Wall
    The East German Communist Party annnouced that people could cross the border whenever they pleased. People brought hammers and picks to demolish the wall while others crossed freely into West Berlin.
  • The Ending of the Cold War

    The Ending of the Cold War
    The Cold War was over, being marked by the crumble of the Soviet Union. The countries in NATo were relief as there was no nuclear threat looming.
