World War II Ends
Japan surrendered and that became the end of World War II. About a 6 year war cause by the Nazi's and its Axis' Powers. Allies such as Canadians helped mow down enemy forces such as on D-Day at Juno Beach. Canadians also supported the Allies by training and sending aircraft to invade the enemy towards victory! -

The United Nations is Created
International Organization compiled of nations around the globe to promoted peace, justice, human rights, social and economic development and etc. They were brought to help to provide common-interests among every nation. Canada was one of the many countries to have found the UN. -
Creation of NATO
(North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is a democratic Military Alliance that considered Canada as a part of their forces. -
Communist take control of China
Communist Mao Zedong took over China's government. Canada noticed the change in the Chinese government and they got the United Nations to help change the communist government back to its former self. -
The Korean War
South Korea was invaded by North Korea. Canada gave the largest contribution than most of the nations towards the war. They had the RCN provide aid to the war. -
Creation of the WARSAW Pact
Warsaw Treaty Organization of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance was a military aliiance of the communist countries. Its an organization that opposes NATO and Canada found them as a big threat. -
Vietnam War
This war was a struggle between nationalists forces and the US joined to prevent communism from spreading. Canada's forces joined the US army in the Vietnam War. -
Lester Pearson diffuses the Suez Crisis
Egypt seizes the Suez Canal. Lester Pearson at that time was Canada's Secretary of Extrenal Affairs and he proposed the the first UN peace-keeping force. -
Berlin Wall is built
The Berlin wall completely separated West Berlin from East Germany and East Berlin. During that time, Canada and other Alliances supplied West Berlin with food and supplies. This wall was built to prevent people from escaping from Communism. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Soviets bring nuclear weapons to Cuba under Fidel Castro. The US was to setup a negotiation with Cuba to not set off the nuclear bomb, if they didnt invade Cuba. Nuclear weapons were passing by Canada during that time and it scared Canada. -
USSR invades Afghanistan
A conflict between ant-communists and Soviet forces. The Soviets shot hundreds of missles in Afghanistan as part of their invasion.
*Canadians were also in the Afghanistan war in 2004 as part of the peace-keeping corp. -
Berlin Wall is torn down
East Germany lost power in government, they immediately tonr down the wall. This reunited Germany.
