    After the war was over Germany was divided up between the winners. The winners being Britain, France, the US, and the USSR. Eventually Germany was made into two sectors, The USSR occupying east Germany while the other three nations forming west Germany.

    In this speech Churchill made it clear that he believed that the soviet union had too much power in Europe, almost occupying the entirety of western Europe. "From Stetting in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the continent. During this speech he addressed the nation about the communist regime and the state of the world.

    The cold war is the rest of the 20th century after WW2 and was a standoff mostly between the two super powers at the time, the US and the USSR.

    This policy was meant to slow or stop the spread of the soviet unions influence on the world. The policy allowed US president, at the time, Harry Truman to help contain threats in other country and give support to them as well. This policy allowed nations to create the north Atlantic treaty organization, or NATO.

    The Marshall plan allowed The United Stated to fund the rebuilding of Europe after world war 2. Trade Barriers were taken down during this time allowing countries to be open to trade. This plan was also known as the European Recover Program.

    This is when the Soviet Union cut of all access to west Berlin. This however failed to work when supplies were airdropped into west Berlin. After the airdrops started to happen the Soviets stopped the blockade.

    This was a three year war that divided Korea into north and south. This war was funded by the two super powers of the world, the US and the soviet union. North Korea was funded by the USSR and south Korea was funded by the USA.

    This was a revolution that was led by Fidel Castro against the government of Cuba. Like the Korean war this was funded by the superpowers of the world. This revolution lead to one of the worst dictators known to the world.

    This was a pact made in response to the formation of NATO. The pact was made of the countries of Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. The "treaty of friendship" was dissolved in July of 1991.

    This was a war in the pacific with north and south Vietnam fighting. Similar to the other wars during this time period it was funded by the US and USSR. Unfortunately during this war over 3 million people.

    This was the first thing made by humans placed in space, even though it stayed in space for a short amount of time. This won the USSR the space race although they did not win the race to the moon. Sputnik stayed in a suborbital trajectory for 21 days.

    This time period was when China went into another civil war, a communist country against a communist uprising. The great leap was a large scale industrialization of China. This used the power of all furnaces from small backyard steels furnaces to industrial scale furnaces, everything was used to accelerate the production of China.

    This was a failed invasion by Cuban exiles. The invasion had the us support while they said they were not going to help them. The day after American bombers failed to get there on time due to time zone differences.

    The Berlin wall was made by the Soviet Union to section off west and east Berlin. This wall was made to cut off all access to eastern Berlin from the rest of the world. The wall was partially destroyed in November of 1989.

    This is probably the closest the world has come to nuclear war, the time the USSR had put nuclear missiles on Cuba. This action made the thirteen day that this was an active topic. If either country had launched missiles the human race could have ended.

    This was a guerrilla was with the soviet arm and a group called the Mujaheddin. Surprisingly unlike most wars during this period the other side was not funded by the US. This was a civil war that was funded by the USSR almost completely.

    This was a protect turned violent when the Chinese military were ordered to fire randomly upon protesters. Hundreds were killed and almost ten thousand were arrested. This action by the Chinese communist party were looked down upon by friend and foe alike.

    The fall of the Berlin wall was a large help to reunite the divided Germany and help rebuild the nation. This happened near the end of the cold war and allowed east and west Berlin to talk out their differences. This event was shortly followed by the fall of the Soviet Union.
