    On August 12, 1953, the soviets dropped their first hydrogen bomb, RDS-6, or the American nickname, Joe-4, which had a turn point for the Americans and pushed them into testing their own hydrogen bombs, and on top of that, try to improve them. The Russians had developed a new "layer-cake" design, which Americans had later taken this design, and use it for later hydrogen bombs.

    During the space race, or what started it, was the launch of sputnik-1 (СПУТНИК-1) which was a small little space probe, that was used to improve radio signals across Russia, for the Americans, they thought otherwise. They thought the probe was a satellite that was made to spy on the Americans even more than they were already paranoid about.

    While this terrified many Americans, and rather made them go paranoid, this also push the American government to keep on pursuing their space race goals, while this didn't happen yet, would be behind the Soviets, with the first satellite and man in space, the Americans would try to push even further, while making their own satellites, they also started the plan on putting a man on the moon.

    USSR invades Afghanistan

    The Soviets decided to break their peace treaty with Afghanistan and invade them. The Christian and Athiest soviets chose to invade to defile the Islamic religion. They wanted to invade to of course expand more communism, but the leader at the time, (A leader of the Marxist People's Democratic Party) decided to not have it, and employed guerilla tactics to crush the soviet army, 14 thousand soviets lives were lost.

    The Soviets did not want to surrender, however the leader at the time, a very openly democratic and capitalist-similar man, Mikhail Gorbachev, to try and end the cold war, decided to leave Afghanistan. This by the former Soviets was called, "The Soviet Vietnam"
