Yalta Conference
Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joesph Stalin came together at this conference to brainstorm ideas to repair Germany. The leaders decided to split Germany up into borders. While, the U.S. tried to salvage their part of germany, the Soviets were brinking on taking over the land. Berlin Blockade and airlift

Space Race
This was a space race to see which country would be the leaders in space flight technology. In reality no one extrememly cared who got there first, it was more of a statement saying who was more superior rather than just who could get to space first. U-2 Reconnaissance Planes
The Soviet Union caught the United States performing espionage onto their country from above. The U.S. flew a reconnaissance plane above the countries base to take photos of their military. Bay of Pigs
Cuba was moving farther along into communism with the Soviet Union, so the U.S. felt they needed to stop this before it was too late. There had been talks of nuclear weapons in Cuba also, so the U.S. decided to send the CIA into their country to take over the communist party of Fidel Castro. The U.S. failed and didn't succeed to stop Cuba. Cuban Missile Crisis
