    The Cavalry fought by Old church. Lee thought his cavalry needed backup so he ordered Anderson's first Corps to move right of Totopotomoy creek to help the cavalry.

    One June first in the begining there was some confusion between the leaders, Lee and Anderson. The two did not comunicate and Anderson thought he was not supposed to attack. But Anderson only attacked and Hoke did not as he was told. At the end of the day the Union lost about 2,200 men, and the Confederates lost about 1,800 men.

    Meade and Grant decided to atttack Lee's right flank.Meade alse told Handcock II to take his forces to the left of Wright's VI Corps. Handcocks men where to tired from walking to attack right aways so they postponed the battle to 4:30 PM on June 3.

    At 4:30 the Union started to advance on Old Cold harbor. There where alot of casualties because the firing at them through the thick fog. The left flank was able to penetrate Breckinridge's line, and it turned into a hand to hand fight. Some of the men thought of this battle as " murder, not war." The casualties where estimated at 3,000 to 7,000 from the Union and 1,500 or less of the confederates.

    Between June 4, and June 12; 1864, both sides cooled down. There where some little attacks, trench workers, and sharpshooters worked non-stop. Both armies where in horrible conditions. They both did not have food , shelter, water, or medical assistance.

    The Union won this part of the war in the end, but no one really one because of all the casulties and destruction on both sides. The Union lost 33,000 men in total and the Confederates lost 55,000
