    Remember the Ladies
    After Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence Abigail had some thoughts about hopes for an independent nation. She decided to write her husband John Adams on some of her opinions in which she talked about men not needing unlimited power and how more attention needed to be shown to women so men wouldnt become tyrants. This impacted American History by encouraging America to give women rights in the future.
  • Article of Confederation

    The article of confederation was firm league of friendship between states. It was written to give the U.S. a government to take over if they won the Revolutionary War.
  • Division of the President's Cabinet

    09/23/1787 Division of the President's Cabinet The President's Cabinet, which were a group of advisors who helped the president carry out policy, were eventually divided into two political parties known as the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. This happened because Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, who were members of the Cabinet, disagreed on matters of policy. This event is important because political parties play had a very important role in the development of the U.S.

    John Marshall and the Supreme Court
    This case started off with the election of 1800.John Adams was running for a second term against Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr.Votes ended up with a tie because the Democratic Republicans voted for both Burr and Jefferson giving them the same number of electoral votes. John Marshall could not enforce the right so the case became Marbury v. Madison. This case equalized the U.S. system of checks and balances.

    The revolutionary war had many effects on people including women and african americans. Women were helpfull to the success of the Continental Army by taking care of children and running farms while men were at war. African Americans were affected freedom was offered to slaves who agreed to fight. Art and Education were the things in culture influenced by the Revolutionary War.

    Westward Expansion
    The westward Expansion was the united states expanding to own north america. People in the south wanted slaves while people in the north didn't want slaves. This little dispute turned into a war in which the north and the south fought. Westward expansion had a big influence on the Civil War. The westward expansion caused some heated debates on whether or not to permit certain territories to become states because of their view on slavery.
  • War with Mexico

    War with Mexico
    in 1845 Texas became apart of the U.S but Mexico and the U.S disagreed on the southern boundary of Texas. When Mexico refused to meet the U.S. diplomats U.S invaded Mexico and Mexico retaliated. The war began which was believed to have been started by Mexico first. The U.S had many victories but Mexico wouldnt give up. The Treaty of Guadalupe was signed and Mexico finally gave up teritory which ended the war.
  • Manifest Destiny

    The Manifest Destiny, which was created by John O'Sullivan, gave America the right to expand and spread our beliefs of freedom and democracy across North America. I chose the creation of th Manifest Destiny as one of the top ten important events of this time period because this event brought democracy to many countries, which is a government run by the people. After the creation of the manifest destiny, the U.S. gained more land from Mexico and Great Britain
  • Gold Rush

    Gold Rush
    A man named James Wilson Marshal discovered gold at Sutter's Mill. Because of his foundings chaos began all over Californa to get some of this gold. Word of the findings of this gold soon spread across various parts of the U.S. People from all around came to get gold also known as "forty-niners" which went on for seven years. This event impacted American History because it reinforced the idea of Manifest Destiny.
  • Indian Wars

    Indian Wars
    Indian Wars were a series of wars between the US Army and the Plains Indian nations. Since the Indians were a nomadic culture who depended on buffalo they always had buffalo roaming around. But when miners, farmers, and ranchers settled they killed the population of buffalo. The U.S government responded by resticting the Indians to reservations which then started the many wars between them.
