CLAMP began as an 11 member doujinshi group called CLAMP Circle. O-Kyon, Sei Nanao, Tamayo Akiyama, Leeza Sei, and Sōshi Hishika, Kazue Nakamori and Shinya Ōmi.
The three main artists, Satsuki Igarashi, Mokona Apapa, and Tsubaki Nekoi met in high school and met Nanase Ohkawa They quickly befreinded each other and taught themselves manga.
In 1987, the three stopped creating doujinshi. -
Gradually members of hte circle left and there were seven remaining.
Their first official original series, RG Veda, was serialized in the magazine Wings.
When it was released into tankobon volumes, there were 10 volumes in total. -
Man of Many Faces, CLAMP's second work, was published with Genki Comics.

In March 1990, Wings began serializing Tokyo Babylon. Now CLAMP's work was popular and they became popular too.

O-Kyon left the group in June of 1990. It was during the creation of RG Veda.

Genki Comics began publishing this series. It became the work that Satsuki Igarashi, Tsubaki Nekoi, and Mokona enjoyed the most.

Monthly Asuka began serializing X.
It was the first appearance of Kamui, who would appear in a lot of other manga. -
Tamayo Akiyama and Leeza Sei left the group. They left during RG Veda.

Shinya Omi and Kazue Nakamori left in March of 1993.
Their departure was mentioned in the Shoten 3. -
This series was one of their most popular ones. CLAMP gained much popularity from it and it is published in many languages and is sold worldwide. It was serialized in Nakayoshi magazine.

Cardacaptor Sakura was released with Nakayoshi magazine. It was meant for a younger female audience. The story was cute and girly and sparkly and magical. it has been released into tankobon and omnibus editions, sold around the world.

This manga was made for a male audience, therefore it is categorized as shonen. It appeared in the magazine Monthly Shonen Ace.

The series Chobits is a seinen manga with cute shoujo. The style reflects CLAMP and the art is so distinct and adorable. It was serialized in Young Magazine.

All of their other work was for a younger target audience, so Chobits marked the first time that CLAMP created a manga for an older male target audience, called seinen. This proved their versatility and skill in creating manga of different genre.

This manga was created because CLAMP wanted to limk all of their previous work. They used traditional Chinese and Japanese themed for the work. It ended on February 2011.

In 2004 it was revealed that the CLAMP members changed their names because Mokona wanted to drop her surname, Apapa, and Mick Nekoi did not like the fact that her first name was the same as Mick Jagger's. So they changed their names to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi(her name was spelled with different kanji)

This was their first shonen manga for a target younger male audience. This manga used the characters from their previous manga (ex. Sakura and Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura, Kamui from X 1999) and the technique was done by one of the pioneer mangakas. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen magazine.
It has a parallel storyline with XXXHolic and the two stories repeatedly crossed with each other. It has been made into 28 tankobon volumes and has been made into an anime. -
In 2011, CLAMP started a new series called Gate 7. It is known for its extremely detailed hairstyles and intricate expressions. It is still continuing. It is featured in Jump SQ magazine.

CLAMP started another series titled Drug and Drop, which awas featured in the Young Ace magazine. Only four chapters as of now have been completed, not even enough to have a tankobon volume.
