    Fort Sumter
    The Confederacy won the battle, and there were no deaths in the war until after. This battle was important because this was the battle that sparked the Civil War.
  • 1st battle of Bull Run

    1st battle of Bull Run
    This battle was in Manassas Virginia and was won by the Confederacy. The generals were, for the Rebels, Tomas “Stonewall” Jackson and PT Beauregard. For the Union it was General McDowell. This bettle was important because it changed the opinion on the war.
  • Battle of Shiloh

    Battle of Shiloh
    This battle was in Mississippi and the people were, from the Union General Grant and from the Rebels was Willium Sherman. This battle was important because the Union gained control of Menphis Tennesse.
  • Fall of New Orleans

    Fall of New Orleans
    This battle was in New Orleans and the Union general was Captin David Farragut. The union won this battle, and it was important because it completed control of the Mississippi River. Now the south couldn't use ports or rivers to transport goods and people.
  • Battle of Antietam

    Battle of Antietam
    This battle was in Maryland and the Union general was General McMlellan and the Rebels leader was General Lee. Nobody won this battle, but it was important because the Union was able to keep Lee from moving forward to the North toward the Capital.
  • Battle of Fredericksburg

    Battle of Fredericksburg
    This battle took place in Virginia. For the Union the General was General Ambrose Burnside and for the Rebels it was General Lee. The Confederacy won the battle and this battle was important bcause the South broke the Union's winning streak.
  • Battle of Chanslorsville

    Battle of Chanslorsville
    This battle was also in Virginia. The leaders for the Rebels were General Lee and then Jackson, and for the Union it was General Hooker. This battle was won by the Confederacy and it was important becasue it ruined the Union's plan to capture Richmond.
  • The Battle of Gettysburg

    This battle was in Pennsylvania. The Rebels general was General Pickett and the Union was General Meade. THe Union won this battle and it was important because it made the South lose hope for Britain and France to come to their ade.
  • The Vicksburg Siege

    The Vicksburg Siege
    This battle took place in Mississippi. The gengeral for the Union was General Grant, and for the Rebels it was everyone. Everybody participated in The Vicksburg Siege. The Union won this battle and it was important because it was the last defence on the Mississippi River. Also, it cut off the South's supplise even more.

    This battle took place in the forest where there were a lot of brush fires or forest fires, and that is what killed most of the people. For the Union General Grant was the leader and for the Rebels it was General Lee. The Union won this battle and it was important because it allowed the Union to move forward to Richmond.
  • The Battle of Mobile Bay

    The Battle of Mobile Bay
    David Farragut lead the Union soldiers into Mobile Bay. The Southerners fired on them. They tied Farragut onto the front of the boat because he was ill. The Union won the battle and this was important because this was the last Southern port east of the Mississippi River.
  • Sherman's March to the Sea

    Sherman's March to the Sea
    The Union wanted to break the spirit of the South, so Sherman and his men became destroyers. They burned everything, and after that the 100's of enslaved people walked behind him the rest of the way. This was important because it broke the spirit of the South, and by doing this the Union accomplished their goal.
  • Surrender at Appomattox

    Surrender at Appomattox
    After the president of the South destroyed Richmond Lee still continued to fight the Union. After a while Lee got surrounded by Grant's men and was forced to surrender. In Virginia Grant met with Lee to discuss ending the war. The Union won, but there were conditions of surrender: Rebel troops got to keep their weapons ; Rebel officers got to keep their horses; No one could disturb the soldiers on their way home; Grant gave 25,000 rations to feed Lee’s troops (food).
