The union had the win at first but Jackson came back with close counter attacks. Confederates had the up side because they fought a defensive war. -
Vicksburg
South hold down a river fort. It was tough terrain but South again had defensive advantage. North had more troops. Important generals-Ulysses S. Grant, John Pemberton. Union dominates Pembertons forces with a huge win for the union. 32,492 out of 33,00 men were killed missing or wounded. -
Sherman's March To the Sea
Terrible time when Sherman and his army crashed towns and states and burned everything. This was a plan to need it but did not work. It was a terrible time in history. Sherman is part of the Union. Union has the advantage because they are using fire and they are weakening the confederates.
