    In April 12-13 1861 fort sumter was attacked by P.G.T Beauregard’s Confederate troops including a 34 hour artillery fire that started the Civil war. The Union surrendered to P.G.T Beauregard’s Confederate troops.

    The battle of Fredericksburg lasted from December 11 to the 15, 1862 marking a crushing defeat for the Union. There push forward into Fredericksburg held by General Robert E. Lee’s North Virginia's army pushed the union back killing almost 13,000 Union soldiers.

    April 27, 1863 Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker pushed up to Fredericksburg hoping to break Robert E Lee. The Union was successful and pushed into Chancellorsville. The confederates had stopped the Union from pushing them back more.

General Lee’s army went through north Virginia to Pennsylvania and fought with the Union Army of Potomac. On July 3rd Lee ordered an attack for his 15000 troops to assault the enemy which was successful but eventually failed. The Union had won the battle stopped Lee’s invasion up north.
