The election of 1946 and the "3 Governors Controversy"
Eugene Talmadge won the 1946 election however he was ill and they knew he was gonna die and they ran another election and in the middle of the running Eugene died and His son ran along with James Carmicheal and D talmadge bowers. It was close but at the end they counted up the votes and Eugene home county was last took be counted and they helped Herman Talmadge become governer. -
Brown vs Board Of Education
On thsi date the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional.
The blacks were being treated poorly and the whites were getting most of the money from taxes at school but blacks and whites paid the same amount of taxes. -

Formation of SNCC and the integration of Woolworths lunch counter
The sit in was a rebellion on the workers at the woolworths resturant when they refused to serve a small group of 4 blacks and the guys brought more a more students and just sat at the counter in the resturant till they got served. The SNCC Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, or SNCC was created on the campus of Shaw University in Raleigh two months later to coordinate these sit-ins, support their leaders, and publicize their activities. -
Albany Movement
Cause: Segregation and blacks being treated unfairly. Effect: the jailing of more than 1,000 African Americans in Albany and surrounding rural counties -

Martin Luther King
he was involved in the march on washington and the "I have a dream speech" because the unequality of blacks was getting out of hand and he had a huge role on ending rasism with african americans. -
March on Washington
more than 200,000 Americans gathered in Washington, D.C., for a political rally known as the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This was to show the government needed to lighten up on blacks and make it equal. Also MLK gave his famous speech here. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
Landmark piece of civil rights legislation in the US that outlawed discrimination based on race. This brought whites and blacks together. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
This act prohibits racial discrimination in voting and allows it to be equal when voting between whites and blacks. -
