Lee and grant meet in Appomattox Court House, Lee ended up surrendered the war. The goal was to stop fighting and return home in peace. It was signiface because it ended the war and the souths dream to become there own country.

Election of 1860

Lincion and Douglas were the 2 canidetes in the Election of 1860. Lincion won becuase the North had a larger population. South carolina treatened to seced. It was singiface because it was one of the reasons of the Civil war.

South Carolina Seceds

Since South Carolina didnt get there way in the election, they seceded from the United states.This is signiface because This formed the "Confederate states of America"

Attack on Fort sumner

Apr 12, 1861

Lincion informed the South he was going to Supply rhe fort. Leaders of the Confederate states decied to attack the fort before Lincion can supply it. This was signiface because this attack started the Civil War.

Battle of Bull Run (Manassas)

Jul 21, 1861

North wanted to Invade virgina and take the captial richmond. Confederates won the battle, this changed the way the North was looking at the war. The North had to start taking the War seriously from this point on. It was signiface because it was the 1st offical battle of the Civil war.

battle of vicksburg

Jul 4, 1862

Vicksburg was the last stronghold of the missippi river. It was signiface because the Anaconda plan was fulfulled.

Battle of Antietam

Jul 17, 1862

Both sides fought all day and nobody had won. Lee had to flee to Virgina. This battle was the 1st Major win for the North. It was signiface because it was the bloodest day in history and Lincion took this as a oppirtuny to sign the Emancipation Proclamation.

Battle of fredsburg

Dec 11, 1862

Mclean was replaced by General Burnside. Burnside decided to attack richmond. Confederates win. It was signifact because it was a devastaing loss for the Union.

Emplacation Procalation

Lincion was hesitint to sign the emplacation because he did not belive he had the power, Some union states opposed it,and He did not want to loose the Border states. This was signifact because it only freeded the slaves in the Confederant States.

54th Massachusetts (fight at fort wagner)

Jun 18, 1863

After emplacation procalation, Afican-Americans rushed to join the army. They were given the worse jobs and paid less. They ended up attacking Fort wagner in South Carolina. This is signiface because this is the most famous Black regiment.

Battle of gettysburg

Jul 1, 1863

For 3 days both sides fought and the Union had the high ground. 23,000 union trops die. 75,000 confederate troops die. This was signiface because it was the turning point in the war. Also because 1/3 of the Confederate army was dead.

Gettysburg address

Nov 19, 1863

Lincion went to Gettysburg to dedication a cemetery for 3,500 soliders burried there. It was signiface because it was only 272 words but most of the one famous speaches.

Shermans March to the Sea

Nov 15, 1864

Sherman and his troop toor up rail lines, crops, and burned towns. It was signiface because Some peoples house were burned down.

13th admement

Jan 31, 1865

Lincion wanted to end slaverly Permintly. The admement was passed after Lincons death. It was signiface because it Abolished slavery EVERYWHERE, Prohibited involuntary servitude, and demolished the Fugitve Slave act and 3/5 compromise.
