The confederate states broke off from the rest of the U.S. in 1861, due to their disagreements with the rest of the nation. -

Fort sumter was where the first shots of the civil war were fired. The confederates used their cannons to fire shots. Anderson ended up surrendering on the 13th, 34 hours later. -

On november 6, 1861 Davis was elected president for the confederate states. He was already a temporary president before he was officially elected. He was president for a 6-year term. -
Emmancipation procclomation
President Abraham Lincoln declared that all slaves that are in the rebellious states, are free. This was declared on January 1st, 1863. -
Gettysburg battle
This battle was fought in and near Gettysburg, Pennyslivania. General Robert E. Lee brought his troops into Pennysliviana after Union got a victory.The Union ended up with another victory here. -
Sherman's march to the sea
This event was when Sherman marched with his troops to the town of Savannah from Atlanta. They went to destroy everything for the south like their economy and resources. -
The 13th Ammendment
This ammendment was about abolishing slavery. It was published January 31, 1865 and abolished slavery and explained that slavery or non volunteered serving is prohibited exept, as a punishement. -
Ulysses S. Grant Appomatox Courthouse
This battle was fought near Appomatox Courthouse virginia April 9, 1865. This ended up in Robert E. Lee. Surrendering his army to Grant. -
Abraham Lincoln Assassination
On april 14, 1865 late at night John Wilkes Booth had found and entered the presedental booth Lincoln was in and shot him, he left through the back door. -
14th ammendment
This amendment gives citizenship to anyone born or admitted to the U.S. This was ratified July 9th 1868. -
15th amendment
This amendment says that denying a citizen the right to vote based on their race or from being a former slave is prohibited. It was ratified on february 3, 1870
