    Election of Lincoln
    The election of lincoln is what really struck the thin rope holding the north and the south together as the US. When Lincoln was elected he caused a lot of anger in the South and ultimatelly forced the confederate states to leave the US. Because Abraham was an abolitionist he instantly made slavery illegal so the south states left because of that. Ultimately the North one the election because the North wanted to get rid of slavery and they got the man they wanted up for president.
  • Texas secedes from the Union

    Texas secedes from the Union
    Texas secedes from the Union because they believe that the only reason the african americans are here is to help the whites and not be free. The african americans are a dependent race and they may only be in the country to be beneficial to the whites. Texas states that the african race has no agency in their establishment. They also state that the whites established this land(The US), for themselves and their posterity.
  • Houston kicked out of office

    Houston kicked out of office
    He was kicked out of office because he refused to pledge to the Confederate states of america. Sam is the only person to be thrown out of office in two different states. This is a loss for the Confederacy because Houston had a lot of fighting and leading knowledge. This is a win for the Union because they can get valuable information from him about the Confederacy.
  • Battle at Fort Sumter

    Battle at Fort Sumter
    General Beauregard led the south to a victory. The North lost and raised their white flag(surrender flag). No one lost a life but the north lost Fort Sumter. The battle started April 12, 1861 at 4:30AM and ended on April 13, 1861 in the morning.
  • Battle of Galveston

    Battle of Galveston
    The Union won in one of the most important battles in the Civil war. Commander William b. Renshaw led the union to the victory at Galveston. This battle decided wether the Confederacy would have access to the outside world or be stuck inland. This was a huge loss for the confederacy because now they have no major ports left.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    The Battle of Gettysburg was the most famous battle in the Civil War and raged on for 3 days(July 1,1863 to July 3,1863). The Union met the Confederacy with 88,000 soldiers and quickly overwhelmed the confederates. At the end of the battle 6,000 soldiers were presumed dead and 45,000 wounded or missing. This bloody battle ended the Civil War by the Union capturing President Lee.
  • Battle of Sabine Pass

    Battle of Sabine Pass
    The Confederacy were faced with 5,000 men, 22 transport vessels, and 4 gunboats from the Union but we're able to defend it and won the battle. If the Union won they would have gained access to having control of Texas. This was a big win for the confederacy because they were able to keep control of Texas. The Confederate troops were greatly outnumbered and were still able to defend the Sabine Pass
  • Red River Campaign

    Red River Campaign
    The confederates won and saved Shreveport, Louisiana from Union control. Although the confederates won they missed mini opportunities to steal the Union's navy Vessels because the water levels in the Red River got really low. Both sides could not decide on their leaders ultimately leading to bickering amongst them. The only thing the confederates lost was not capturing the Union's vessels.

    General Robert E. Lee surrendered to the union on April 9, 1865.The Union won the Civil war and the confederacy is no such thing anymore. All the states that seceded came back and slavery is finnaly illegal in all states. Although the Union won the war claimed over 600 thousand lives.
  • Battle of Palmito Ranch

    Battle of Palmito Ranch
    The confederacy won and lost no lives while the union lost 118 lives. That was the final battle in the Civil War and was led by Col. Ford for the confederacy. Even though the Civil had concluded for over a month the confederacy still fought. The Confederates fought in that battle clinging to whatever hope they had left to call that their land.
  • Juneteenth

    Juneteenth
    Juneteenth(June 19, 1865) marks the day that most the slaves from Texas learn they were freed. African Americans have celebrated Juneteenth for over 100 years. Juneteenth also marks the day slaves will begin the struggle to gain equal rights with other citizens. Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation went into effect on January 1, 1863 but the Texan slaves were informed in 1865 that they have been emancipated for over two years.
  • Reconstuction ends

    After Lincoln is assassinated there are laws passed restricting african americans from doing the same things as whites. Republicans controlling south with military. 3000 federal troops are ordered out of the south and democratic control is restored in the South. The 14th and 15th ammendment are passed.
