Lincon was aginst slavory and wanted to free slaves.He was elected becuase the democrates split between two people instead of all voting for the same person, so they did not have enough votes to beat Lincon.

    Texas sucedes from the union in 1861. Texas was the 7th state to sucede from the union. They become the Confederate States with Lousiana, Flordia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and many more states in the south side of the US. This effects the outcome of the civil war becauseTexas picks a side.

    Houston kicked out of office
    Sam Houston gets kicked out of office in 1861. He leaves becuase he refuses to pledge alligence to the Confederate States of America. So they deside to kick him out of office. This effects the outcome of the Civil war because Texas get a new person in office who would make different desisions than Houston.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    The battle of Fort Sumter was in 1861. Robert Anderson, garrison comander,surrendered the fort and the fort was evacuated the next day. General P.G.T. Beauregard was commander of the Cofederate forces around Charlston harbor and he opened fire on Fort Sumter. This effected the outcome of the civil war because it gave the Confeterate forces Fort Sumter.

    The battle of Galveston was in 1863. Commander William B. Renshaw led his ships to Galveston harbor to demand surrender. So, the confederates had no choice but to surrender. Then about a year later John B Magruder led his troops back into Galveston and attacked. The confederates regained Galveston. This effected the civil war because the union had blockage ships that stopped supples from coming into Galveston for a while.

    The battle of Gettysburg was fought in 1863. When Robert E. Lee heard the union was going to attack, he planned to assemble is army in Gettysburg. Robert E Lee won the battle with his confeterate troops aginst the Union. Many people died in this war. The effect of Gettysburg is that it allowed Robert E. Lee to go on and win more battles for the confeterates.
  • Battle of Sabine Pass

    Battle of Sabine Pass
    The Battle of Sabine Pass was fought in 1863. The comfederates won aginst the Union. The Union sailed up the Sabine River to try and reduse Fort Griffin. The confederate fought back and won. The effect this had on the Civil War was that the Union kept blooking the water routs into Texas.

    The Red River Campain was in 1863. The major commanders in this war were Nathanial P. Banks who was in charge of the Union Army, and Richard Taylor who was in command of the confederate side. Both the Union and the Confederates wanted control of the gateway. The Confederates won aginst the Union. The effect it had on the civil war was that it gave the confederates more supples and a gateway to attack the Union.

    The "End of the Civi War" was the ending of the Civil War. The confederates lost the CIvil war aginst the Union. The Civil war lasted 4 years. It had many deaths

    The Battle of Palmito Ranch happened in 1865. The confederates beat the Union. On the first day the union evacuated due to pressure but then came back the next morning but was still defeated. There were 118 Union casualties and no confederate deaths.

    This event happened on the 19th of June. It ended slavory in the U.S. So now all the slaves were free. This happened only a few months after the Civil war ended.
  • Reconstruction Ends

    The Reconstruction ends was in 1875. The nation was prepared to abandon its commentment to equality for all citizens regaurdless of race. The northern states where tired of the reconstruction afte 12 years. So they created laws that would be harder for thr blacks to follow. For example you had to pay a two dollar tax to be able to vote, which was a lot of money for a newly freed slave.
