  • Secession Convention

    When it became known that Abraham Lincoln would become our president then a group of people met in Austin and voted to secede from the Union. This led to the secession of a few other states in the South.
  • Marshall Conferences

    There were three conferences held to discuss problems from the war for the confederate states west of the Mississippi. The first one was held on this date because the Union tried ot take control of the Mississippi river from the confederacy.
  • Great Hanging at Gainesville

    Forty suspects that were members of the union were hung in confederate Texas.These unionists were considered guilty of conspiring against the confederacy however a lot of them were falsely accused. This hanging ended up causing a lot of tension afterwards.
  • Treasury Robbery

    The downfall of the Confederacy was a chaotic period of time which then caused one of the biggest crimes in Texas; the robbery of the state treasury.
  • Juneteenth

    On this date, Gordon Granger arrives in Galveston and order that all slaves are free because of the proclamation order by the President of the United States.
