Lincoln is elected president

when Lincoln was elected as president it semi-started the civil war. he wanted to limit the slavery towards the west side of united states & nearly created the republican party.

Feb 8, 1861

Confederate States of America is formed

after president Lincoln was elected as president 11 states wanted to secede from the united states. this lasted from 1861-1865 and was lead by Jefferson Davis.

Mar 4, 1861

Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address

in his second inaugural address Lincoln called out slavery for the reason of the war. the union had been in the civil war for about 4 years.

Battle of Fort Sumter

the battle of fort Sumter was when the confederate states attacked the united states military in Sumter South Carolina. no one was killed and and the fort surrendered.

President Lincoln declares a blockade of Southern ports

it was a blockade designed to prevent the export of cotton and the smuggling of war material into the confederacy

when the union and confederate armies has a war in manassas junction Virginia. he confederate ends up winning the victory and retreated back to Washington D.C

the battle of shiloh was one of the major battles in he civil war. the confederate army did a surprise attack on the union forces. the untied states ended up winning the war.

this battle was against Robert E. Lee and general George McClellan. the union wanted to prove that they would beat the confederate army and they did.

Emancipation Proclamation

the nation was in year 3 of the civil war and this proclamation stated that anyone who was a slave shall be free

Battle of Gettysburg

this war happened because both armies were heading towards a certain road junction and ended up colliding. when it happened Robert focused all his forces on that and the war lasted 3 days.

this was a speech given by president Lincoln, he gave this speech because he wanted a new birth of freedom and independence and also honored the people who died in the battle of Gettysburg.

on this day Sherman marched thousands of enslaved black people so they could be free from Atlanta to Savannah Georgia.

Lincoln Assassinated

Lincoln was assassinated because of the confederacies beliefs. john wilks booth had been wanted to kill him but before he had a plan to kidnap him. wilks booth attended a play at the threader and shot Lincoln in the head.
