    The joint committee on the conduct of the war was formed on December 9 1861. It was formed right after the battle of Bulls Bluff where George B McClean’s army was embarrassed by the opposing confederate army.
  • Emancipation Proclamation/ George Mcclean / Battle of Antientam

    The emancipation proclamation was written by Abe Lincoln on January 1 1863. The battle of Antietam where George Mclean lead the Union Army gave Abraham Lincoln the political cover needed to release the Emancipation proclamation. The outcome of the Battle of Antietam was undecided.

    The battle of Vicksburg started on May 18 1863. The union General was Ulysses S. Grant. It was the last major stronghold of the confederate army and the union over took it. The Conscription act happened earlier in 1863 and It gave the union the man power to defeated the confederate army in this battle.

    The Gettysburg address was given by Abraham Lincoln at the Soldiers national Cemetery in Gettysburg. The battle of Gettysburg happened 4 months earlier and Joshua Chamberlin chalked up a win against the Confederate army. The speech was given on November 19 1863.

    The battle of Fredericksburg took place on December 11 of 1863, and it was one of the most one-sided battles of the Civil war. The Confederate army led by Robert E. Lee destroyed the Union Army so much that the death total of the union army more than doubled that of the confederates. This war took place at the same time America was producing greenbacks.

    The 13th amendment abolished slavery throughout America on and was accepted and fully adopted by December 18 1865. William Seward on that date proclaimed its adoption. The battle of Chancellorsville was the deciding battle of the civil war and the civil war was about slavery and the 13 amendment ended slavery.
