  • Election of 1860

    When Lincoln was elected, all 12 Southern states seceded.The first to secede was South Carolina on December,20,1860. Next to secede from the Union was Mississippi on January,9,1861. By June,8,1861, (except for the border states, Missouri,Kentucky, West Virgina, Maryland, and Delaware.) all of the Southern states seceded from the U.S ( so-called the Union)
  • Fort Sumter under Confederate hail fire.

    Before the attack on Fort Sumter, Major Anderson, commander of the fort, told President Lincoln that the fort was very low in supplies. Lincoln attempted to send in supplies, but the Confederates managed to halt supply lines from going to the fort. On April,11, 1861, Confederate soldiers, under Gen. Beauregard, seiged the fort with cannon fire. The next day at 2:30 a.m, Union soldiers inside the fort evacuated and surrenderd. This siege will start a long, bloody, war America will face.
  • Anaconda Plan

    The Anaconda Plan was delveloped by Winfield Scott. Scott's plan was to stop Southern ports from importing and exporting goods so that way, they'll have less money to buy weapons and lowering the Souths war effort.It also proposed of invading the Confederate capital, Richmond.
  • #1 Battle: Bull Run

    General Irvin McDowell's Union Army crossed Bull Run and met with Confederate forces commanded by Gen. Berauregaud, the same general that orderd the attack on Fort Sumter. The battle ended with Union defeat. The North was shocked by the news on the Confederate victory. During the battle, both sides had disadvantages due to alot of bad battle planning.
  • Monitor V.S Merrimac

    When the Confederates moved out of Bull Run (Mannassas) they reached to an emtpy navy yard which was a Union navy yard.The Confederates wanted to make an ironclad, so they re-submerged the USS Merrimac,renamed it CSS Virgina, and added iron armor. During the Battle of Hampton Roads, the CSS Virgina litierally killed off the Union's wooden navy. This made the Union make their own ironclad.This sparked the 1hour battle of USS Monitor and CSS Virginia. It ended in a draw. Rena

  • Antietam: ANGEL's HAVE FALLEN

    THis battle was the most bloodiest, major battle in American history. About 23,000 casualities were taken on both sides in a single day. Union won in this battle.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The Proclamation proposed that the Confederate states shall give up their slaves. But the border slave states can keep their slaves. This was kind of a tatic because the slaves supported the Confederate war effort.

    Gettysburg: Deathland in a Farmland

    Union and Confederate forces fought each other in a battle that will become the most biggest and bloodiest in all of the Western Hemisphere and in American history.The battle took place in a peaceful farmland town in Gettysburg,Pennslyvania. Between 46,000 and 51,000 men died during this huge, bloody conflict that lasted for 3 days. It was also a turning point of the war because it was the last Confederate offennsive of the war.

    Vicksburg: Home under siege.

    Vicksburg was surrounded by a Confederate fort. Union Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, decied to assault the city. But the Confederate fort was highly protected with gun fire and pikes as traps. As it got harder to get up to the fort, Union forces planned to bombard the city. Although there was little property damage, Morale on the Confederates lowered. The rebels surrendered to the Union on the 4th of July.

    Petersburg:Siege Day

    Union forces ,led by Lt. Gen.Ulysses S. Grant, planned a siege and invasion over the Confederate town of Petersburg. The Union fought with trench warfare. The siege was somewhat unsucessful at first. But then Grant would try to cut off supply lines leading to Confederate fronts that would spark a siege over Petersburg.After 10 months of fighting, Grant's army will breakthrough Confederate lines and march into the city.
  • "Hot-Lanta and Severed Savvannah

    In the Battle of Atlanta, Gen. Sherman's army fought and defeated Confederate forces and broke into Atlanta,litierally burning down the whole city and goes non-stop to Savvanah.This attack follows a total-war policy.With this policy, soliders not only can gun down Conderates, but can wreck havoc over the states targeted by the Union.
  • FINAL BATTLE:Appomattox

    After four years of bloodshed,seperation, and brother-kill-brother conflicts, Lee finally surrenders to the Union at Appomattox. LEE and Grant agreed to meet in Appomattox Courthouse. Grant gave generous surrender guidelines to Lee's soldiers. GEN.LEE accepted.This officaly ended the Civil War!
