    The Battle of Fort Sumter was on April 12 1861. The Union was led by Major Robert Anderson, and the Confederacy was led by General PGT. There were no casualties, and the Union surendered the fort. This battle sparked the Civil war.
  • First Battle of Bull Run

    First Battle of Bull Run
    The First Battle of Bull Run took place on July 21, 1861. It was in Manassas, Virginia. The Union was led by General Irvin MDowell and the Confederacy was led by General PT Beaurgard and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The Confederates won and it was the first sucessful battle and changed the view of the war.

    The Battle of Shiloh took place on April 6th, 1862. The Union was led by Ulysses S. Grant and William" Tecumseh" Sherman. The Confederacy was led by General Beauregard. The Union won the battle, and because of that, the Union took control of the Mississippi River.

    The Fall of New Orleans took place on April 25, 1862. It took place at the Mississippi river and was a naval battle. The Union was led by Captain David Farragut and there was no Confederacy leader, The Union won the battle and it was important because the South couldn’t use the port or river to carry goods to the sea.

    The Battle of Antietam took plae on September 17, 1862 in Maryland. The Union was led by General McClellan and the Confedearcy was led by General Lee. No one won the battle. It was important because the Union was able to prevent Lee from moving the war into Northern land.

    The Battle of Fredericksburg took place on Dedcember 13, 1862 in Virginia. The Leader of the Union was General Ambrose Burnside and the Confederates were led by General Lee. The Confederacy won and it was important because the south had won again.

    The Battle of Chancellorsville took place in May 1863 in Virginia. The Union was led by General Joeseph Hooker and the Confederacy was led by General Lee and General Jackson. The Confederates won and it was important because it ruined the Union's plan of attacking Richmond.

    The Battle of Gettysburg started on July 1st and ended July 4th 1863 in Pennsylvania. The Union was led by General Meade and the Confederates by General Lee & General George Pickett. The Union won and the battle was very important. It was important because it ended Confederate hopes of getting help from Britain and France and put the union in the lead.

    The Vicksburg Siege started on July 4th in 1863 in Mississippi. The Union was yet again led by General Ulysses S. Grant and the Confederates by the whole confedearte side! The union won and it was important because it was another turning point in the war and the Confederates split in half and lost the Mississippi River.

    The Wildreness Campaign started May 5, 1864 and sparked the 6 bloodiest weeks of the war. It was inbetween Washington DC and Ricmond. Brushfires burned alive 200 men who were wounded. There were also 50,000 Union deaths within 30 days.
  • Farragat at Mobile Bay

    Farragat at Mobile Bay
    The Union was under the control of David Farragut who was the highest ranking Union Officer. It took place on August 5, 1864 at Mobile Bay in Alabama. They led an attack of 18 ships on Mobile Bay and the Confederates came back with torpedoes and fired onto the ships. After the union won, they captured the last port on the Mississippi river.

    Sherman's march was on November 12, 1864. The union wanted to break the South's morale and Sherman wanted his men destroyers. The burned cities and farmlands across Georgia and continued destruction all through the Carolinas.
  • Fall of Richmond and Surrender at Appomattix

    Fall of Richmond and Surrender at Appomattix
    Fall of Richmond: Lincoln and his son went to watch Richmonf burn to the ground and there were African Americans following Lincoln everywhere, singing, laughing, and reaching out to touch him.
    Surrender at Appomattix: After Richmond, Lee and Davis retreated but Lee continued to fight. Gant accepts Lee's surrender and the Union wins the war on April 9, 1865.
