  • Fort Sumter

    Fort Sumter started on April 12th 1861 and ended on April 14th. This battle took place in Charleston, South Carolina. The unions commander was Robert Anderson. The confederates commander was P.G.T Beauregard. No soldiers were killed in this battle. Anderson had little supply. The confederate won. Fort Sumter started the civil war.

  • The Bull Run

    The Bull Run started on July 21st. This battle took place in FaixFax County and Prince William County, Virginia. The unions commander was Irvin McDowell. The confederates commander was Joseph E. Johnston and P.G.T Beauregard. 4,878 were killed total in this battle. 2,896 of those deaths were Union and 1,982 of them were confederate. The confederate won.

  • Monitor VS Merrimack

    Monitor VS Merrimack started on March 8th 1862 and ended on March 9th. This battle took place in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The unions commander was John L. Worden. The confederates commander was Franklin Buchanan. 393 were killed total in this battle. 369 of those deaths were Union and 24 of them were confederate. The result was inconclusive.

  • Richmond

    Richmond started on August 29th, 1862 and ended on August 30th. This battle took place in Madison county, Kentucky. The unions commander was William Nelson. The confederates commander was E. Kirby Smith. 5,650 were killed total in this battle. 4,900 of those deaths were Union and 750 of them were confederate. The confederate won. The way north was open.

  • Antietam

    Antietam stated on September 16th, 1862 and ended on September 18th. This took place in Washington county, Maryland. The unions commander was George B McClellan. The confederate commander was Robert E. Lee. There were 22,717 deaths in total. 12,401 of those deaths were union and 10,316 of them were confederate. There was attacks and counterattacks. The union had a numerical advantage. The result of this battle was inconclusive.

  • Fredericksburg

    Fredericksburg started on December 11th 1862 and ended on December 15th. This battle took place in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The unions commander was Ambrose E. Burnside. The confederates commander was Robert E. Lee. 17,929 were killed total in this battle. 13,353 of those deaths were Union and 4,576 of them were confederate. The confederate won. This was the largest and deadliest of the civil war.

  • Vicksburg

    Vicksburg started on May 18th 1863 and ended on July 4th. This battle took place in Warren county, mississippi. The unions commander was Ulysses S. Grant. The confederates commander was John C. Pemberton. 37,402 were killed total in this battle. 4,910 of those deaths were Union and 32,492 of them were confederate. The union won.

    Gettysburg started on July 1st 1863 and ended on July 3rd. This battle took place in Adams county, Pennsylvania. The unions commander was George G. Meade. The confederates commander was Robert E. Lee. 51,112 were killed total in this battle. 23,049 of those deaths were Union and 28,063 of them were confederate. The union won.

  • Sherman's march to the sea

    Sherman's, Major General William Tecumseh Sherman, march started on November 15, 1864. The army covered as much as 15 miles a day. Fewer than 3000 deaths occurred. This was remembered as Barbarism Unleashed.
