    The Confederate General Thomas J. Jackson and his troops defeat the Union Army led by General Irvin McDowel. This happened 25 miles southwest of Washington.

    This battle began as McClellons army moved from Washington to Richmond. This was an attack on the group of Wooden Hulled vessels just off the Virginia coast.

    The Confederates surprise attacked Gen Ulysses S. Grant at Shiloh on the Tennessee River. 13,000 Union soldiers and 10,000 Confederate soldiers were either wounded or killed.

    General "Stonewall" Jackson and General James led 55,000 confederates to defeat 75,000 Federals under General John Pope. This battle occured in Northern Virginia and the Union retreates to Washington again.

    This day was known as the bloodiest day in U.S. Military History. General Robert E. Lee was stopped by McClellan and his forces At Antietam, Maryland. Lee then withdrawals to Virgina after 26,000 dead or wounded that night.

    The Union defeats the Confederacy at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and the war is turned.
  • The Fall or Capture of Vicksburg

    Vicksburg wasthe last confederate stronghold. After a 6 week seige they surrendered. Inevitebly the Union took control of the Mississippi River. Later the Confederacy was cut off from their western allies.
