  • Siege of Fort Sumter

    This siege happened at the begging of the war. The confederate Generals wanted to control as many military bases as possible. They told the soldiers at Fort Sumter to hand over the fort, but they said no. Then the confederates sieged them with cannonballs until they took the fort.
  • Battle Of Bull Run

    18,000 Union forces fought against the confederates. The confederates won. The union attacked strong, but the confederate General Jackson stood his ground. They counter attacked and pushed the union back. This made people realize the war would be a long hard war.
  • Battle Of Antietam

    A Union soldier found battle plans telling of where the confederates would attack next. General Mclenan received these plans, but waited a long time to actually get into position. Eventually Mclenan Got into position to intercept the confederates. They found the confederate army and got ready for battle. They waited too long and the confederate forces were able to come help. The Union pushed back the confederates, but had to retreat after reinforcements came to the confederates. It was a Union V
  • Battle Of Gettysburg

    General Lee tried to push to Harrisburg and then move to Washington to destroy big citied and the capital. The union army intercepted the confederates. They accidentally met at Gettysburg. The union cornered the confederates and got into a fish hook position. They waited for the confederates their and kept destroying them when they tried to push. The Confederates tried to push the union one last time and were wrecked at cemetery hill.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The Emancipation Proclamation was a strategic bill passed by Abraham Lincoln. He passed it so that slaves in the confederate states would try to escape causing their economy to crash. Another big reason to pass this bill is so that Britain would help them fight off the confederates because the war was then about ending slavery.
  • General Shermans March to the SEA!

    General Sherman took the offensive pushing through Confederate territory with over 60k troops. They pillaged city, and burned Atlanta to the ground. They stole food from the townspeople on the way to the port of savanah burning and pillaging any building in the way.
  • Lees Surrender at Appotomax court house.

    Lee was cut off at all directions and was forced back in to a little town called Appotomax. The union troops then cornered them and the confederates were forced to surrender. The confederates were allowed to keep horses, (They would need them for farming.) but they had to hand over their guns. Only officers were allowed to keep their pistols as a memento.
