  • Battle of Bull Run

    The battle of Bull Run was where the confederate and union met up following with a battle. the cause was the union troops setting out to reach Richmond and didn't know they were going to see each other. The effect was both sides realizing how much help and training they needed. The confederates ended up winning because the Union retreated.
  • Lincoln pres

    Was prez from 1809 to 1861. he served many bills and some weren't favored by the us. He greatly helped the civil war with supplies, strategies and resources. He was shot and assassinated by someone who snuck in and shot him and Lincoln died the next morning. the guy who shot him was later found and killed
  • Siege of fort Sumter

    The union was in control of Fort Sumter. Lincoln was resupplying all of the forts and when the ship that was resupplying Fort Sumter was getting there, rebels shot it away and soon after fired on the fort and after a while, the next day Major Robert Anderson surrendered the fort and the Union didn't get the fort back for more than 4 years later. The significance of this battle was that because it was the first battle of the Civil war it helped everyone realize that it was going to be a long war.
  • Battle of Antietam

    The union was atleast 2 times bigger than the confederates, but the union wasn't fully aware of that. the union started out by killing the confederates greatly and they suffered a loss of many men. Then, the confederates called in reinforcements and the union started loosing a lot more soldiers. The significance of this battle, was that it was a very bloody battle, and Alexander Gardner’s photography Brough the bloody disaster to life and showed how brutal the war is and how sad the deaths were.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The confederates surrounded the union both left and right attacking, and they ended up loosing a lot of men because they were outnumbered. Union kept bringing men and outnumbered the confederates severaly by day 2. The confederates attacked the union and waited for a punter attack but it was never placed. The significance of the battle was the confederates taking in how much they had lost and repeating the same routine and getting back into the war as strong as they can be with less men.
  • emancipation proclamation

    Lincoln proposed a proclamation to free all slaves in the south, and it was signed in Virginia. When the south refused to follow the proclamation, it caused lots of dispute. The significance, is it led to the civil war, and at the end of the civil war, it ended up being implied in a certain way
