    Fort Sumpter is considerd to be the first battle of the Civil War, but some people don't considerd it a battle because the Confedracy invaded the Union. The Union leader was Anderson and the Confedracy was Lee. On April 12-13, 1862 near Charleston and South Carolina Fort Sumter was was invaded and bombed. The invasoin of Fort Sumter was the beging of the Civil War.

    The 1st Battle of Bull Run was fought on July 21, 1861in Virgina; uthe south called this Manassas. The Union was commanded by Irvin Mcdowell; the Confedracy was commanded by Pierre Beauregard. They clashed near a little creek called Bull run north of Manassas. When the south won the north was shocked, many people in the south thought the war was won. The north had underestimated its apponet.

    The Battle of Hampton Roads was on March 8, 1862 in Virgina. The southern leader was Lee and the northern leader was Buchanan. It was the most arguably naval battles in the Civil War. The most important part of the battle was the first meeting of ironclad warships. the union won because the had a good navy.

    Tennessee. The battle is also know as the Battle of Pitsburg Landing. The Confedrate leader was Johoson and the Union leader was Grant. The first day the Confedracy had achived sucess, but the second day the Union had achived sucsess.

    The 2nd Battle of Bull Run was fought on July 1st, 1862 in Virgina. The Union leader was Pope, and the confederate leader was Jackson. The confedracy won after the Union troops withdrew back in Washington. After a few mounths Lee stopped the threats on Virgina.

The battle was draw and it was known as the bloodest battle in American history. After fighting all day neither side had gained any ground by the time night rolled around.

    The Battle of Fredricksburg was fought in Virgina on December 13, 1862. The Union leader was Burnside and the Confedrate leader was Lee, unfortunatly for the Union the Confedracy won. Both sides had certain disadvateges which is why it is considered an unusal battle. the Union had 2 atvatedges one is theat they were at high elevation and the other is they had thousands of troops. The confedracy 2 advatedges was they were grounded and the flank was covered by bridge.

    The battle of Chancellorsville was fought in Virgina on May 2-4, 1863 it was a southern victory. It was considerd Lee's Greatest Triumph, but it was disapponting for the south becaus Stonewall Jackson was coming and the south thought he was in the north and shot him.Over four days Hooker became more aggresive his attacks begun to fail which resulted in the defeat of the north at Chancellorsville.

The Siege of Vicksburg was consired a turning point because the Union took control of the Mississippi river. After holding for forty days the garrasion finally feel.

    The Emancipation Proclamation was on July 1st, 1863 after the Battle of Gettyspurg. The document stated that all the slaves were freed in the South. The Proclamation did not end slavery, it did capture immigrints. It announced that black men were now excepted into the Union Army over 200,000 black men joined.

    The Siege of Atlanta was fought in July 16- Setember 2, 1864 in Tennessee. The Union leader was Sherman and the Confedrate leader was Hood. There was a truce in Atlanta after savannah \was taken.The capture of Atlanta and Hood's burning of military facilities.

    The Surrender was in Virgina, After Grant gets Lee to surrender in Petersburg. The door is opened to Richmond and Lee is fourced to surrender. Which leds to the abolitoin of slavery, and later leds to the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. The Union also had more clavery.

Walt Whintman, a poet, was so upset he wrote a poem about Abraham Linclon, called O'captin my Captin. his death was also the loss of a very experinced and good political leader; the people had to rebiuld the nation without him
  • Ratification of the 13th Amendmet

    Ratification of the 13th Amendmet
    The Amendment was passed in the Senete on April 8, 1864 and was passed in the House on January 31st, 1865 and it was finally ratifed on December 6, 1865. the Amendment stated that all African Americans were freed. The Emanspation Proclamation that outlawed slavery in ten confedrate states a rebellion started.
