Pre Civil War
This is one of the many types of uniforms for the soldiers before the Civil war began. These uniforms would vary between states and militia groups cause much confusion when the Civil war started. -
Union Uniform
The Union uniform varied between ranks, but also between states. When the war broke out the Union lost is main suppler of wool thus creating a struggle to make a standard issue uniform. -
Confederate Uniform
The Confederate uniforms varied as they lacked the proper resources to make and produce the same issue to every soldier. Some of them even wore blue uniforms that were acquired when the Union army was defeated or retreated. -
Sharpshooters
During the war special units were created such as the sharpshooters who wore green uniforms to blend in like camouflage.
