The Han Dynasty created sheets of paper using mulberry and other bast fibres along with fishnets, old rags, and hemp waste.

Cable tool drilling was used with a four-leg rig made of bamboo bundles, above which a drilling tool bit hanging on a rope was being moved. The movement was caused either by a seesaw or by directly pulling a rope. This would lift the drill bit above the drill bottom and which would fall due to gravity. By twisting the rope, the drilling bit could be moved or turned.

The wheelbarrow may have well been invented in the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). After the Three Kingdoms Period, wheelbarrows were largely used throughout the country, and even now they can still be seen in some rural parts.

The earliest suspension bridges were ropes slung across a chasm, with a deck possibly at the same level or hung below the ropes so that the rope has a catenary shape.

Ancient umbrellas were first designed to provide shade from the sun. The Chinese were the first to waterproof their umbrellas for use as rain protection. They waxed and lacquered their paper parasols in order to use them for rain.

It is not certain as to where the first kites came from, but it is said that they were first known to the people of the China. They used to use it to fish, attaching bait to the tail of the kite and a web to catch the fish.
