    Zheng He wanted to travel around and explore the world. Because of this, he set out expeditions.

    The Great Canal was finally completed by 1415. It is known as one of the longest river. It passes through the Yellow River.

    Zheng He had led voyages all around since he had a lotof power. Basically, his voyages were all around the Indian Ocean.

    Commercial expansion began because of the trading relationship China was having with the Spanish.

    Ming was losing power over time mainly because of the wars that wer occuring.

    China's population was increasing. They needed help in order to control the growing population, so basically needed to increase prodictivity.

    During the rebellion, the Ming dynasty was not able to fight, so their dynasty decline because of the need of help.

    Manchus were allowed into China to help end rebellions. However, they took over the Ming dynasty. The Manchus then practice their Confucian teachings.

    Chiristian missionaries was no longer allowed in the Qing dynasty. The reason for this was because they felt like Christianity was vulnerable.

    Opium, the drug, was introduced to China from the East India Company. This drug was supposed to be used for medical reasons.Many chinese were becoming addicted to this drug.

    Opium leads to War
    Because of the opium addiction, a war was held. This war was between Great Britain and China; troops from China got on British ships and continued the war. Opium was then illegal in China.

    This war took place around 1840s. This was against the dynasty of the Manchu.The Taiping rebellion was led by Hong Xiuquan, who desired social reforms.

    The british had a lot of power, so they made Hong Kong their own colony.

    Chinese were asking for peace, but war still continued in 1856.

    Korea becomes independent
    Korea becomes independent in 1876. This was causing a military movement.

    Boxer Rebellion
    This rebellion's goal was basically to get rid of Europeans and Japanese from China.

    These rebellions were basically led by Buddhist since they were so angry because of their government.
  • Foot Binding-abolished!

    Foot Binding-abolished!
    Foot binding, the act where women are not allowed to have big feet, was no longer allowed.
  • End of Qing Dynasty

    The Qing Dynasty ended. This was difficult for the Chinese because they got rid of examination systems, at first. At the end, a republic was established.

    The Chinese revolution was caused because of the decline of the Qing dynasty and the fall of the Manchus. This also helped create a republic government.
