    The new emperor banned ocean travel and belived that the expeditions were too expensive to afford.

    Second Opium War was also a loss to China again due to weak military techniches and military. China was forced to open all to the European commerce.

    China lost control of Veitnam to the French. As a result, there was another colony.

    The Boxer Rebellion was created by a small group of rebels aimed to kick out the foreigners (Europeans) of Chinas. This ended as a failure to the rebel groups.
