    Cesar Chavez
    Born in Arizona, his father worked in the fields to support his family growing up. As a child, Cesar hated school. Most schools spoke english and at a young age, Cesar was uneducated in the english language. However later in life education was Cesar's passion. Cesar founded the National Farm Workers Association due to the low wages, backbreaking working conditions, and few benefits the grape growers offered.

    wwII veterans of mexican descent who were denied medical services by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs
    -Texas refused to accept sick WW2 mexican americans veterans were segregated from other veterans groups.
    - established on march 26, 1948 by Dr. Hector P. Garcia
    - soon spread into more non veterans issues such as voting rights, jury selection, and educational desegregation...basically advocating the civil rts.

    National Farm Workers Association/United Farm Workers and Strike Against Grape Growers
    This association was founded by Cesar Chavez in 1965. Mainly chicanos worked in the fields harvesting grapes. The owners of these farms paid very little, overworked employees, and rarely helped them with basic needs (no benefits and terrible working conditions). This organization was started and many employees signed up. Through picketing, striking, and boycotting the grape industry, chicanos got recognized and made a huge difference.

    Major Accomplishments
    Partido Nacional de La Raza Unida (National United Peoples Party or United Race Party) was an American political party centered on Chicano nationalism. During the 1970s the Party campaigned for better housing, work, and educational opportunities for Mexican-Americans.
    The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). What was once a competitive grant that provided funding directly to school districts is now a formula grant program, with federal subsidies based on the number immigrant students.
