    Charles Robert Darwin's Survey Voyage

    In 1831 Darwin was placed on a voyage with Captain Roberts FitzRoy. Darwin spent most of his time away from the boat investigating and collecting specimens of species. This voyage lasted almost 5 years. He sent letters, reports, and specimens home. His Journal was counted as natural history and this helped Darwin come up with his evolutionary theory.

    Charles Darwin publication on the Origin of Species was delayed for almost two decades "Various biographers have proposed that Darwin avoided or delayed making his ideas public for personal reasons. Fear of religious persecution or social disgrace if his views were revealed." Quammen (2006).     Charles Darwin died on April 19, 1882 in London. We still use his theories on Evolution of Beauty and Origins of Species to this very day. Darwin has defiantly left his footprint in the science books.
