    HMS Beagle Voyage
At the age of 22 years old Darwin set forth on a voyage onboard the vessel HMS Beagle. He was hired as a naturalist on the ship but spent a majority of his time on land collecting various species, which he would study more in depth once he returned to land in England nearly 5 years later. In the years to come after returning to England, Darwin dove into studying all the specimens he collected while underway. As he discovered more, he began writing and publishing many books in this time frame to include Journal of Researches into the Natural History and Geology of the Countries Visited During the Voyage Round the World of HMS Beagle, The Structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs, Geological Observations on Volcanic Islands, and Geological Observations of South America.

In the years to come, came many published books by Darwin informing others of this studies but his best known and most controversial book yet is known to be the Origin of Species which shed light on his theory of natural selection and evolution.
