The birth of Darwinism
When Chales Darwin was born, a legacy of inspiration was born. A new age of philosophical science was to come from his discoveries. -
The beginning of Charles Darwin's voyages.
Darwin set sail on the HMS Beagle on December 27, 1831, from Plymouth, England. He was 22 years old when he started this voyage. Most of the trip was spent sailing around South America. There, most of his time was spent collecting and observing plants, animals, and fossils, comparing his findings to other species throughout South America and the Galapagos Islands. The ship returned to Falmouth, England, on October 2, 1836. -
On the Origin of Species
In 1859, Charles Darwin published his most famous book "on the origin of species". Darwin’s theory argued that organisms evolve over many years through a process he called “natural selection.” and not all species "poofed" from this air by God. -
The Descent of Man
In The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex, Darwin argued that all creatures were subject to the same natural laws, and that humans had evolved over time, just like animals had. From this book, pictures of Darwin's head on the body of an ape were created in what seemed to be an attempt to tease his theory of human evolution.
