HMS Beagle
In 1831, he embarked on the HMS Beagle. Darwin had plenty of time to form his theory of evolution by natural selection. In 1839, upon returning from a voyage on the HMS Beagle, he published Journals and Remarks, which was a narrative of his time aboard the ship. This included 770 pages of his diary, 1750 pages of notes, and 5,436 bones, skins, and carcasses from animals. These fossil discoveries from extinct animals, raised questions for Darwin. -
On the Origin of Species
Quite a few years later, Darwin published On the Origin of Species, on November 24, 1859. This book is considered to be the foundation of Darwin’s work on evolutionary biology. On the Origin of Species introduced the scientific theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection. Darwin hypothesis that the variations within a single species are related to the more distinct variations seen across different species, resulting in the origin of specie -
Death
April 19, 1882, at the age of 73, Charles Darwin passed away from heart failure. However, he contributed greatly to the philosophy of science with his discovery of natural selection. The origin and adaptations of organisms were brought into the science we know today because of him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NFfSLlCawE
