  • Survey Voyage on the HMS Beagle

During Darwin's study at Christ's College, he befriended one of his professors, John Stevens Henslow. After Charles Darwin graduated Christ's College, Professor Henslow recommended him for a position on the HMS Beagle. The ship was taking a five year survey trip around the world. While on this trip, Darwin observed many different species and was able to write about his findings in his work, "Journal of Resources."
  • Charles Darwin's Beliefs

Charles Darwin believed in a process called natural selection. This means that nature selects the best adapted species to reproduce. He also believed that each change, if useful, is preserved and used. Charles made his beliefs known in many of his books and works throughout the years.
  • Darwin's Main Points

Based off of Charles' writings, one of his main points that stands out is that in a population, some individuals will inherit traits that help them survive and reproduce. The individuals that have inherited traits will be the ones to leave more offspring in the next generation. This is caused by the important traits that were inherited originally.
  • How Darwin Influenced the Future of Science

Darwin developed a new set of facts and principles that have influenced every single person in today's world. His discoveries explained the meaning of evolution without using the supernatural. He also showed that each individual is unique and their traits are unique to their bloodline.
