In 1831 Charles Darwin went on a 5-year voyage around the world on the HMS Beagle with Robert FitzRoy as the captain. His father Robert Darwin disapproved of his son going, he said it was a waste of time but his brother and law persuaded him to pay for his son voyage. The study and collection of different species and specimen he took on the voyage, helped him to formulate his theoreis . which he published in his book on the Origin of Species.
