    Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12 1809, In the town of Shrewsbury. Charles was the fifth of six children brought to life by the successful Robert and Susannah Darwin.

    Darwin's 5 year voyage

    When Robert Fitzroy, The captain of the HMS beagle, was in need of a naturalist for a voyage to circumnavigate the earth he offered a spot to Charles Darwin who graciously accepted. During the voyage Darwin was mostly land bound. He made Multiple important finds such as the mystery behind coral reefs and fossils of long extinct mammals. All of this work from Darwin cemented him as a respected geologist.

    After Darwin's initial recognition for returning from his 5 year long voyage. He published a book about his experiences and discoveries of said voyage. It not only touched on his travels but was an extremely detailed scientific journal. The book built quite the reputation for Darwin.

    This is considered Darwin's most notorious achievement as it is the most brought up throughout general education. In this book Darwin begun to start the theory of evolution, explaining how over generations populations of species begin to evolve through the process of natural selection. This book brought a great amount of attention to Darwin and started several scientific, and religious debates that are still talked about today.
