Who is Charles Darwin?
Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury Shropshire, England. He is known for his scientific theory of evolution which became the bases of our studies with evolution today, along with many other ground breaking theories. He was a English biologist, naturalist, and geologist. H.M.S. Beagles Five Year Voyage Around Globe
Charles Darwin accompanied Robert FitzRoy on a voyage around the earth. The voyage started December 27, 1831 and ended October 2, 1836 where he become to be known as a eminent geologist. He studied animals, fossils, plants, geological formations. During this voyage he discovered the fossils of extinct mammals. -

Formation of Coral Reefs and Atolls
Darwin theorized that the different types of coral reefs and atolls could be characterized by the subsidence of Earths crust under the ocean. This theory was published in his book "The Structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs" in 1842.
