After the death of his mother in 1817, Darwin joins Shrewsbury School as a boarder, with his older brother. -
Darwin is removed from school
Due to Darwins bad grades, his father deem him unsuccessful in school and removed him from it. Darwin spends the summer accompanying his father. That autumn, he is sent to Edinburgh University, with his brother Erasmus, to study medicine. -
Darwin leaves Edinburgh
Darwin grew tired of medicine and eventually leaves Edinburgh
without taking a degree. -

Darwin gets an offer
Charles Darwin is invited to join HMS Beagle on a surveying voyage to South America. Darwin becomes part of the Beagle Voyage. This voyage included sailing to South America for documentation of new creatures. -
Darwin publishes his theories
After returning to England, Charles started writing papers on his findings and theories. He began publishing his papers right away. He begins his first theories on specie mutations. Darwin begins making his first theories on the mutation and evolution of animals within their species. -
Darwin gets married
Darwin gets married a woman to a woman named Emma Wedgewood. Emma happened to be Darwins cousin. -
Darwin writes a thirty-five page sketch of evolutionary theory.

Darwin publishes barnacles
Darwin publishes writings on stalked barnacles. The Royal Society award Darwin their Royal Medal for his work and writing on barnacles. -
Darwin starts to develop his theories on Natural Selection
Charles began working on a paper for his theory called natural selection. "With Darwin's discovery of natural selection, the origin and adaptations of organisms were brought into the realm of science. The adaptive features of organisms could now be explained, like the phenomena of the inanimate world, as the result of natural processes, without recourse to an Intelligent Designer" (Ayala). -
