In 1831 , Darwin boarded the HMS Beagle to sail to South America in order to study the plants, wildlife, and to take samples from these areas in order to further scientific knowledge. Darwin returned to England five years later to continue to study all of the things he learned on his adventure. He studied his fossils and such which led him to his famous theory of Natural Selection. In 1839, Darwin published one of his most famous works, " On the Origin of Species". This caused controversy between people because of the indifferences between science and religion.
