    BYOD becomes an unavoidable truth and we finally realize that technology needs to be open. Schools tired of lack of technology lead the drive to open networks and free the use of technology. IT departhment begins transistion to support and innovation. Network is forced to become device independant.
    BYOD expands rapidly and within 3 years is the norm.

    The Scramble for Digital Citizenship
    Realizing that nearly every student has a device, we realize that we are terribly behind on educating our admins, teachers and students on digital citizenship. Curriculum (yes i mean we think offering a class is the correct approach) is created and PD is offered.

    Paper textbooks are on their way out. New editions are device independant digital or web based versions. Backpacks are replaced by device bags and notes start to become digital.

    AB 644 REPLACED!
    The replacment for AB 644 is finally inacted. Now public education is finally on its way to being able to fund itself using a performance based formula rather than the archaic need for seat time. Now for the first time school districts can use asynchronous online course material to allow students and parents to have greater flexibility in determining the course of their education IE "I will have a non fat math with extra sprinkles of geometry please"

    A district wide PD day brings all teachers together and we begain to redefine the difference between student collaboration and students using the Internet to "cheat by sharing answers". In the words of Master Yoda, "Taken our first steps into a larger universe have we"

    Digital learning is moving rapidly and space is no longer as critical of a commodity. The first discussion of converting existing facillities to "Digital Learning Centers" begins to happen. These consist of open learning and collaboration spaces, materials and faculty offices.
  • Equity in Access Bond

    Equity in Access Bond
    The tax payers in CNUSD overwhelmingly pass a school bond that allows for the creation of free wireless internet access avaliable to all CNUSD students and famillies. This is a showcase event and many other CA districts emulate. This establishes a baseline of equity for all CNUSD students.
