When WWII began, most Chinese Canadians were undecided on volunteering and while they understood the importance of it, they either thought that enlisting would give themselves a sense of commitment to Canada and gain some respect among other Canadians or why fight for a country that doesn't want me here. In the end, over 600 Chinese Canadians had served in WWII. This shows change because only about 200 had volunteered and the number had tripled by WWII even after the Chinese Immigration Act.
